1. Committee Structure

The Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Award Committee is constituted under the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Sports Foundation to recognize and honour distinguished individuals and institutions for their outstanding contributions to education, social reform, health, culture, sports, administration, and national development.
The Committee upholds the vision and values of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar — Equality, Justice, and Empowerment.

The Committee functions through two key governing bodies, each responsible for specific aspects of the award process to ensure transparency, merit, and national representation:

A. Organising Committee

This body is responsible for the planning, management, and execution of the National Award Programme.
It oversees the coordination of the event, communication, public relations, and implementation of decisions made by the Foundation’s leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct the annual award ceremony at a national level.
  • Manage all event logistics, media communication, and guest relations.
  • Coordinate with partner institutions, ministries, and social organizations.
  • Ensure inclusive participation and representation across states.
  • Execute all directives of the Foundation’s President.
  • Maintain transparency, accountability, and excellence in programme delivery.

B. Screening Committee

This body ensures the credibility, fairness, and merit-based selection of awardees.
It reviews nominations, validates credentials, and recommends deserving individuals and institutions to the Foundation President for final approval.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, review, and evaluate all nominations submitted for consideration.
  • Verify authenticity of documents, credentials, and achievements.
  • Assess contributions in alignment with Dr. Ambedkar’s philosophy and the Foundation’s objectives.
  • Recommend the final list of shortlisted candidates to the Foundation President.

2. Organising Committee

Functions:

  • Plan and conduct the annual National Award Ceremony.
  • Manage logistics, communication, partnerships, and media coverage.
  • Coordinate with committees, guests, and supporting organizations.
  • Execute the Foundation President’s directions and decisions.
  • Ensure transparency and professionalism throughout the award process.

Composition:
All positions are appointed by the President of the Foundation.

  • Chairman: Appointed by the President of the Foundation
  • Vice-Chairman: Appointed by the President of the Foundation
  • Secretary: Appointed by the President of the Foundation
  • Coordinator: Appointed by the President of the Foundation
  • Members: Selected from among professionals, academicians, social leaders, and experts from various fields

3. Screening Committee

Functions:

  • Review all nominations submitted for the award.
  • Verify supporting documents and confirm eligibility.
  • Evaluate achievements based on the award’s values and objectives.
  • Recommend shortlisted candidates to the Foundation President for approval.

Composition:

  • Chairperson: Head of Trustee and President of the Foundation
  • Members: Senior Advisors, Subject Experts, and Distinguished Personalities
  • Secretary (Screening): Nodal Officer managing verification and documentation
  • Advisory Members: Five (5) Awardees from the previous year, invited as members of the Screening Committee to ensure continuity, experience sharing, and fair evaluation

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Proven record of excellence and social impact
  • Contribution consistent with Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s principles of equality and empowerment
  • Ethical standards, leadership, and influence in respective fields
